Parking charges are to be implemented at Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park in Rochford from Wednesday September 1.

The car park has seen significant investment over the past few years, having been extended in January 2019, with work to improve drainage completed in the Autumn of 2020 and the recently completed resurfacing works.

Payment will be by Rochford District Council’s existing telephone payment system, currently PayByPhone. This enables payment by telephone or via an app.

An annual season ticket costing £50 is available from the council on 01702 546366. The ‘Town Centre’ season tickets will also be accepted.

Charges apply from 9.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Parking is FREE on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays

The introduction of the parking charges will support the longer-term sustainability of the country park. The council has over a number of years developed this beautiful 200-acre country park, set in the rolling countryside of the Roach valley, into a popular destination for residents and visitors.

The council recognises the great work undertaken by the Friends of Cherry Orchard, and so will ensure that the volunteers will not have to pay fees while undertaking voluntary activities at the park.

Rochford District Council’s Portfolio Holder for IT, Tourism, Housing and Parking, Cllr Daniel Efde said: “The council has made ongoing improvements to the Country Park and to the car park itself, and it is good to see the continuation of this with the resurfacing of the car park entranceway.

“The introduction of parking charges was a difficult decision but a necessary one to help with the sustainability of the country park and we have worked hard to keep the prices as low as possible.

“We recognise Cherry Orchard Jubilee Country Park is an important and popular spot for our local residents and visitors to enjoy. Maintaining and improving the facilities is essential to keep this beautiful open space safe and accessible for all visitors”
