Police have arrested four men in Southend this evening, Tuesday June 9 after they came across a fight on Eastern Esplanade at just before 5.10pm.
As the men were being arrested, two firearms, which are believed to be air weapons, were discovered.
Anyone with information about the incident, or who may have video footage of the assault, is asked to speak to officers or call 101 and quote incident 891 of Tuesday 9 June.
Police will also be carrying out patrols around the area to reassure residents. If you have any concerns, speak to them.
Officers have been authorised to use stop and search powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994.
It’s essentially an extension of the stop and search powers officers already use but differs because it means officers do not need to have reasonable grounds to stop someone.
The authority, which will be active until 1.55am Wednesday June 10, will cover from the Leas to Western Esplanade and Thorpe Esplanade in the south, Chalkwell Avenue to the A13 to the west, across the A13 in the north, and where the A13 meets Thorpe Avenue in the east.
