Dockers dream of a new home a step closer

Plans for an impressive four thousand capacity stadium for Pitching In Isthmian League Division One North outfit, Tilbury FC have been given the go-ahead following a meeting of the Planning Committee.

Initially, the Planning Department of Thurrock Council had recommended refusal on the five million pound project. However, following a 15-year-struggle, it now appears that the Dockers will be able to flourish in a new home on land next to their current Chadfields Stadium.

The new facility, which will be constructed on the North Field site off St Chads Road, will include an all-weather pitch, clubhouse, gym and hall, and ample parking facilities. The club now awaits further instruction from the Planning Inspectorate and Secretary of State to confirm the project.

The plans include the building of 112 new homes on Tilbury’s current ground which has been their home for 71-years.

Speaking to Yellow Sport, Tilbury Chairman, Daniel Nash, enthused: “I am delighted with the decision made.

“Around 15 years ago, it was my late father’s dream to build a new stadium for the people of Tilbury and this dream has been fulfilled.

“This agreement is great for the Town and the Football Club and will give everyone something to be proud of.”
