Dominant Daggers can’t produce cup magic

Dagenham & Redbridge v Salford City – Emirates FA Cup first round – Chigwell Construction Stadium – Report

Dagenham & Redbridge 0-1 Salford City

Dagenham & Redbridge dominated their Emirates FA Cup first-round tie with Sky Bet League Two outfit, Salford City, but slipped to defeat thanks to Jordan Turnbull’s early goal.

The Salford defender powerfully headed home in the third minute to settle the tie, although the Daggers created a whole host of chances but came up against an inspired Connor Ripley in the visitors’ goal.

Ripley saved from Myles Weston, Matt Robinson and Angelo Balanta, as well as somehow diverting Callum Reynolds’ close-range header onto an upright.

The match was held up for ten minutes in the final stages after a spectator required urgent medical treatment. Salford will face Southend United’s conquerers, Chesterfield at teh second round stage.
