A BRAND NEW drive-in cinema has opened in Rochford, offering classic movies to film buffs left frustrated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
With venues throughout the country currently closed due to social distancing measures, the Southend Outdoor Cinema – situated in Millhead Way, off Purdeys Industrial Estate – offers fans the enjoyment film-fix in a safe environment.
A spokesperson for the venue told the Yellow Advertiser; “We are up and running and will be showing ‘Grease’ on Wednesday evening with NHS and frontline workers admitted free.
“The cinema has received a lot of attention online which we are delighted about. We hope to see plenty of people coming along and enjoying what is historically a global favourite pastime.
“We have a Facebook group as well as further information at www.southendoutdoorcinema.com where moviegoers can see what’s on and book tickets.”
The Greatest Showman, Dirty Dancing, Bohemian Rhapsody and Mamma Mia are all also scheduled to be shown in the coming days.
