Drug dealer jailed after being caught in Southend

A drug dealer has been jailed for five and a half years after failing to outrun police.

Claudio Tunio, 28, was arrested on February 16 in Southend after two specialist South Disruptor officers noticed him acting suspiciously and followed him.

Tunio ran off but they quickly caught up with him in College Way and detained him.

A member of the public told them Tunio had thrown something under a nearby vehicle and officers recovered 35 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin.

Following a search of Tunio’s address in Trinity Gardens, E16, officers seized a further 142 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin, along with weighing scales, cannabis and substantial amount of cash. The drugs recovered have an estimated street value of £1,770.

Tunio admitted charges of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine, possession with intent to supply heroin and cannabis possession.

At Basildon Crown Court on Thursday March 24 he was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in jail for each of the possession with intent to supply charges, to run concurrently, and a further month for cannabis possession, again to run concurrently.
