Dyer appointed assistant boss by U’s

Colchester United has confirmed the appointment of former Kilmarnock manager, Alex Dyer as their new assistant manager.

Dyer, 55, gleaned a wealth of experience, not only during his time at Rugby Park but also serving as an assistant at Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town. He has also worked with West Ham United as well as in the non-league game with Welling United and Whitehawk.

As a player, Dyer made more than 500 appearances with a string of clubs, most notably Blackpool, Charlton and Crystal Palace.

In an interview with ColU TV, Dyer enthused: “When I got a chance to join up with Hayden again, we are always speaking on the phone, and he asked me if I wanted to help out and I do.

“I spoke to Hayden in February, but there wasn’t an opportunity then, but I have jumped at the chance to work with him ahead of next season.”
