E-scooter rider dies following collision on Canvey Island

Police are investigating a fatal collision which took place on Canvey Island.

Officers were called by ambulance service colleagues to the scene, in Harvest Road, shortly after 5.50pm on Friday October 27 where it was reported a van and an e-scooter had been involved in a collision.

The rider of the e-scooter, a man aged in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital.

A 49-year-old man, from Southend, was arrested and questioned on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.

He has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
