Essex Eagles 163/7 (20.0 overs)

Essex Eagles disastrous Vitality Blast campaign continued as Kent inflicted a third successive defeat on the 2019 title holders in a match staged at the Kia Oval.
A classy 81 off 45 balls from skipper, Daniel Bell-Drummond, ably backed up by an unbeaten half-century from Alex Blake went some way towards the Spitfires sizable total of 192/6 – Simon Harmer taking 2/21 for the Eagles.
Essex never really looked threatening, although Varun Chopra put a couple of disappointing recent displays with the bat behind him, hitting 41. But Ryan ten Doeschate’s knock of 42 was the only other notable score from an Essex perspective.
Imran Qayyum was impressive with the ball for Kent, taking 3/25 – they top the group, while Essex brings up the rear, without a win from their five matches to date.
Essex returns to Bob Willis Trophy action on Sunday, September 6/9 when they face Middlesex at the Cloudfm County Ground (11am).
