Essex Eagles dramatically saw off Gloucestershire at the Bristol County Ground to record their fourth win from five Royal London One Day Cup outings, leaving them a point clear at the top of the Group two table.
George Scott’s 64 came off 86 balls, while Jack Taylor chipped in with 62 before the home side were dismissed for 204 – Shane Snater taking 4/48 and Ryan ten Doeschate 2/34.
Tom Westley provided the foundation for Essex’s latest success. His 143 minutes in the middle gleaned 71 off 90 deliveries and included a 63-run partnership with Josh Rymell.
Nevertheless, with Essex on 153/8, the home side looked on course for their third victory of the campaign. Aron Nijjar and Snater carried the visitors over the line. The former scoring 32 off 25, while Snater’s included a last-ball boundary off Jared Warner to secure a valuable success.
Essex Eagles return to Royal London Cup action on Sunday, August 8 when they face Durham at the Emirates Riverside (11am).
