Eastwood are up to third place in T Rippon Mid-Essex League Division Four following a resounding ten-wicket victory over Rainham’s second string at Spring Farm Park.

Despite the intervention of the weather, which saw the teams twice dash for cover due to heavy rain showers, the game was played to a decisive conclusion in favour of the visitors.

Batting first, Rainham seemed on course to set a competitive target. However, after reaching 52 without loss, the hosts collapsed to 103 all out inside 35 overs as Eastwood took charge with the ball and some athletic fielding.

Brett Deeming led the way, returning superb figures of 9-3-20-5, while Alfie Jeeves (3.4-1-8-2) and Sean Worrall (9-1-23-2) were also amongst the wickets. Tyler Bunn top-scored for Rainham, hitting 34 off 55 balls, before becoming one of Deeming’s victims.

Eastwood’s Brett Deeming took five Rainham wickets for 20 runs

Eastwood’s opening pair, Stephen Huckstepp and Ryan Creasey knocked off the required runs inside 20 overs. Creasey scored a classy 62 from 71, which included eight boundaries. Huckstepp’s huge six settled the contest. His 37 came off 49 and completed a notable all-around performance from the Belfairs Park outfit.

Eastwood’s second string recorded a thumping 110-run Division Seven victory over their Broomfield counterparts at Belfairs Park.

Skipper Phillip Bartlett top-scored with 36, while there were useful contributions from Syam Samudrala (28), George Huckstepp (26) and Rohith Reddy Sama (24*). The home side posted 181 for seven.

Broomfield were dismissed in 31 overs for 71. Sama and Gammaduwage K C Perera claimed three wickets apiece, while there was a brace for Alaric Wade.

Eastwood’s third team remain involved in the Division Eleven promotion race despite slipping to a three-wicket defeat at the hands of Rayleigh 6th at Belfairs Park.

Stuart Mcmeekin hit 22, however, the hosts were all out by the middle of the 37th over for 105.

Rayleigh reached their target for the loss of seven wickets, despite the efforts of Alec Hume and James Drabble, who each claimed two dismissals.
