Rayleigh 2nd edged out Eastwood in a hard-fought T-Rippon Mid-Essex League Division Three encounter at Belfairs Park.

Eastwood Leg-spinner Alfie jeeves continued his fine form with the ball, returning figures of 9-1-25-4, taking his overall tally of wickets for the campaign to 44. Meanwhile, Michael Stirrup pitched in with 2/44 as Rayleigh was limited to 191 for nine.

Rayleigh’s opening partnership of Steven Lynch and Neil Noble hit 73 and 43 respectively before both falling to Jeeves.

The Eastwood response proved to be somewhat timid. Cameron Hill top-scored with 34. Richard Nolde and Jake Ashwortheach took three wickets for the triumphant visitors, while there was a brace for Nick Green.
