Leigh On Sea skipper, Jon Edwards supplied the fireworks, helping his side to a long-overdue first league victory of the season at the fourth attempt.

Edwards scored 112 off 131 balls – his innings’ included thirteen boundaries – as the home side -posted a sizable 317/5 from their fifty overs.

Jake McMullen and Matthew Wagstaff both chipped in with half-centuries. Harry Morgan-James and Andrew Clarke both took two wickets for the visitors.

Jeff West’s 90 proved to be in vain for Horndon. James Spencer returned figures of three for 51, while George Thurlow and Wagstaff took two apiece to secure maximum points for the Chalkwell Park club.
