There were plenty of treats and a few tricks at Eastgate’s spooktacular Halloween event on Wednesday October 30.

The cast of ghoulish characters included The Mummies, Day of the Dead musical statues skElvis and Grisella, and Morticia and Gomez from The Addams Family.

Mad Science performed three highly entertaining, action-packed Halloween shows. Scientist Dr Dude amazed youngsters with lots of interesting experiments and scientific facts. Children particularly enjoyed an experiment involving a leaf blower and lots of toilet roll which ended up covering the audience.

The Mummies judged Basildon’s best dressed youngsters at the event, with the winners getting a Build a Bear voucher. Hundreds of children made all sorts of ghosts and monsters at the free Halloween make and take workshop.

Eastgate centre manager Ian Clark said: “Everyone had terror-ific Halloween fun at our event today. It was great to see so many youngsters dressed up in scary costumes.

“Mad Science kept youngsters entertained with lots of fun experiments. Everybody enjoyed meeting the cast of Halloween walkabout characters.”
