Police are appealing for dash cam footage or witnesses to a collision that occurred in the Greyhound Retail Park, Greyhound Way, Southend on Thursday July 22.
Officers were called at around 2:50pm following a report of a cyclist and a pedestrian being in a collision.
It was reported that a woman in her 80s, was on a crossing outside Iceland when she was in collision with a blue pedal cycle being ridden by a white man.
The rider left the scene and is believed to have cycled off towards Sutton Road.
The woman remains in hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening.
Investigating officers believe the cycle was stolen from outside Lidl on the Greyhound retail park moments earlier.
Any witnesses or anyone with dash cam of the incident is asked to call the Serious Collision Unit via 101 quoting incident 840 of 22 July.
Anyone who was in the vicinity, especially in Sutton Road area, around 2:50pm, is asked to check their dash cam footage to see if they captured a man riding a blue pedal cycle either before or after the collision.
Police are also keen to speak to anyone who may have been offered for sale a blue racing-style pedal cycle in the last few days in the Southend area.
