Isaac Ellis produced an impressive performance with the ball, helping Essex Cricket Ability to a seven-wicket D40 Quest victory over Cricket Wales in a well-contested encounter at Harlow Town’s Ash Tree Field ground.

Ellis returned magnificent figures of four for 19 from 6.5 overs. Lee Wheeler and Matthew Thomas were also amongst the wickets, taking 2/10 and 2/16 respectively.

The Welsh were dismissed for 131 inside 39 overs. Nevertheless, Jack Page hit a stylish 56 off 67 balls. His innings included seven boundaries.

Essex reached their target off the penultimate delivery of the 26th over. Asif Patel was desperately unlucky not to reach his half-century, scoring a sparking 49 from 42, including eight 4s. Meanwhile, Matthew Edwards also looked in the mood, scoring 40 from 42.

Ben Aust (18) and Joe Freestone (10) carried Essex over the line. This was their first D40 Quest victory of the season.
