Epping Town hit nineteen, but Westhamians receive praise

EPPING TOWN sent out a statement of intent by thrashing Westhamians by nineteen unanswered goals when the two teams met in a one-sided ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Division Two clash at Stonards Hill.

No less than four Town players hit hat-tricks – Taner Dagyaran, Connor Hammond, Tommie Turner and Alex Paraskeva the men left fighting for the match ball, while as the host’s emphatically continued their unbeaten start to the season.

In fairness, Westhamians were only able to field nine players and notably played the game in the right spirit, showing determination and heart despite the scoreline.

Nevertheless, Epping remains second in the table, behind Leigh Town, who have played a game more, winning four from four.

Elsewhere in the Olympian League, Leigh Ramblers saw off Catholic United by three goals to nil in the Premier Division, while Buckhurst Hill were 4-1 winners at Hutton.

Canning Town beat Old Southendian 4-2, while Harold Wood Athletic triumphed 3-1 at Basildon Town.

Plenty of goals in Division Three with Hutton’s second-string leading the way with a 13-3 hammering of Dagenham United.

Vanarama National League

Dagenham & Redbridge extended their unbeaten league sequence to eight games following a goalless encounter with newly-promoted Torquay United at Plainmoor. The Daggers sitting seventh in the table, seven points behind leaders, Bromley.

Emirates FA Cup second qualifying round

A superb free-kick from Jordan Parks was sufficient for Billericay Town to see off local rivals Basildon United at the Steel Team Stadium. A healthy crowd of 1,106 saw Town start life without owner Glenn Tamplin in a positive manner, although the Bees played their part in a close tie.

Chelmsford City’s FA Cup ambitions were quashed as Corinthian-Casuals won by two goals to nil at King George’s Field – Nathaniel Pinney from the spot and Shaun Okojie finding the net either side of half-time.

Jorome Slew bagged a hat-trick, while Charlee Hughes was also on target as Maldon & Tiptree progressed by beating Wingate & Finchley 4-2 at the Maldon Stadium – Ahmet Rifat and Marvin Morgan responding for the visitors. Meanwhile, Canvey Island and Walthamstow both fave replays. The Gulls playing out a goalless draw at St Ives Town – Walthamstow’s tie with Abbey Rangers ending 1-1.

BetVictor Isthmian League Premier Division

East Thurrock United edged out Brightlingsea Regent at Rookery Hill thanks to a last-minute strike from Frankie Merrifield. Earlier, the former Canvey Island and Chelmsford City man had given the Rocks a first-half advantage. However, Brightlingsea thought they’d earned a share of the spoils when Jake Turner restored parity ten minutes from time.

BetVictor Isthmian League North Division

Alfie Hilton’s brace helped Great Wakering Rovers to a 2-0 victory over Witham Town at Burroughs Park. Meanwhile, Aveley staged a ‘Roy of the Rovers’ recovery from two goals down to beat Histon 3-2 – Harry Gibbs and Reggie Hubbard (2) with the all-important goals for the Millers.

Tilbury and Hullbridge Sports played out an exciting 3-3 draw ay Chadfields. Brian Moses (2) and, George Whitby (own-goal) for the Dockers – Adebola Sotoyinbo (penalty), Yemi Ogunfunmilade and Joseph Wright responding for Hullbridge.

Essex Senior League

Hoddesdon Town were the Essex Senior League’s big winners of the day, thrashing Sawbridgeworth Town 6-0 on their travels. Saffron Walden Town won 3-2 at Tower Hamlets, while Clapton triumphed by the odd goal in three at West Essex.

A single goal was enough for Southend Manor to take the points at CockfostersHashtag United also won on the road, 2-1 against Ilford at the Cricklefield Stadium.
