Several Essex batters looked in good nick on day two of the Intra-squad friendly at The Cloudfm County Ground.

Resuming on 106/2, former England skipper, Alastair Cook – representing Team Westley – followed up 49 off 82 balls with a further 41. Feroze Khushi followed suit, backing up 46 from 64 with 45. The pair gave way to Josh Rymell and Paul Walter who finished unbeaten on 20 and 19 respectively.

Team Browne were provided with valuable extra time in the middle. Indeed, Nick Browne was unbeaten at the close on 42, this after hitting 31 earlier in the contest.

Aaron Beard’s match figures of 6/71 provided plenty of positivity Sam Cook also looked set with the ball in his hand, while Shane Snater and Jack Plom were also amongst the wickets.

Team Browne had scored 205/9d on a bright opening day Snater impressively scored 57 off 68 balls, while both Robin Das looked in good shape, hitting 32.

Essex now face Middlesex in a three day friendly at Merchant Taylors, starting on Thursday, March 31
