Essex confirm Patel loan

Essex Academy product, Rishi Patel, has joined Leicestershire on loan for the remainder of their Bob Willis Trophy campaign.

Ratel will be available for the Foxes four-day fixture with Nottinghamshire, starting at Grace Road today. The 22-year-old made six first-class appearances during 2019 after making his Essex debut against Surrey at the Oval.

Speaking to www.essexcricket.org.uk, the 22-year-old enthused: “I’m very excited to be allowed to come on loan to Leicestershire.

“I would like to thank Essex for agreeing to the loan. Hopefully, it will be a great opportunity to get some game time and score some runs to help Leicestershire.”

Meanwhile, Essex Head Coach, Anthony McGrath, said: “Rishi is a very promising young batsman who has found First Team opportunities hard to come by this year.

“We’re lucky at Essex to have an extremely talented squad and this loan move will give him the chance to play some cricket and get some runs on the board at the highest level, which I have no doubt he will do.”
