The Vitality Women’s FA Cup First Round
Hashtag United v Southend United CSC

Southend United SCS face a trip to Hashtag United in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup

Southend United CSC Head Coach, April Smith, expressed her immense pride after leading the Blues to the first-round proper of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup for the first time in the clubs’ history.

Southend head to the Canvey Island’s Park Lane ground on Sunday (1pm) to face their Hashtag United counterparts in what is a historic tie for the Garon Park-based Blues

“I couldn’t be prouder of what the girls have achieved so far,” Smith told Yellow Sport.

“To equal last year and then go to stages further shows just how much work the girls have put in during that time.

“We know that it will be a tough game. Hashtag are a very good side, disciplined and performing very well this season. We are under no illusion that it will be anything other than a tough game, but if the girls concentrate and work hard then we have no pressure going into this game.

“We would love to have as much support as possible. It is the first time we have ever got into the first round of the FA Cup. We intend to go out and play the best football we can.”
