On Sunday, May 8, Chelmsford City take on Stanway Pegasus in the Tiptree Cup Final, a competition that supports local charities – this year being Vilomah, a Chelmsford based charity that offers help to families that have suffered childhood bereavement.

Chelmsford City manager Simon Horne

“We reached the final following a 3-0 victory over the holders, Frontiers Ladies, thanks to goals from Abi Woollvin, Mia Brisley and Rosie Coe.

“This is the first of two finals as we face Lawford LFC on May 22 at Runwell FC for the ECWFL League Cup. The league title is still in sight. We hope to complete a historic treble.

Chelmsford City Women

“We won’t be taking Stanway Pegasus lightly. They romped undefeated to the title and were also runners up in the second tier trophy. Add into the mix that one or two former Clarets are in their lineup, plus they are managed by former Women’s Chairman, Gerry Jolly, and it all makes for a great looking game.

Stanway Pegasus manager Gerry Jolly

This is our second cup final. We have finished teh league season top of the table and unbeaten. Chelmsford holds no fear for us but we are most probably seen in most people’s eyes as the underdogs and that suits us.

It has the potential to be a cracking game so if you’re free come along to Beacon Hill FC and support our fundraising for Vilomah in aid of families who have suffered early child loss.
