Sussex Sharks won by four wickets

A stylish 76 from Paul Walter couldn’t prevent an inexperienced Essex side slipping to a four-wicket Vitality Blast south group defeat to Sussex Sharks at the Cloudfm County Ground.

Walter’s knock included nine 4s and three 6s. However, with only Varun Chopra and Simon Harmer joining him in double-figure, Essex’s 136/9 always appeared vulnerable.

And so it proved. Philip Salt hit 42 and Calum MacLeod 40 as the visitors reached their target with ten balls to spare – Jack Plom
And Shane Snater each claiming two wickets for the home side who concluded a disappointing campaign in this particular form of the game with just two victories from their ten group matches.
