The Essex second string made it three wins on the bounce by recording a six-wicket success over their Middlesex counterparts at the Merchant Taylors’ School ground.

Jamal Richards and Feroze Khushi were amongst the wickets as Middlesex were reduced to 151/9 – Richards taking 3/25, Khushi 3/31, while Nav Dwivedi impressed with 2/24. Nick Gubbins top-scoring for the hosts, hitting 31 off 27 deliveries before falling to a honey of a delivery from Dwivedi which clipped his leg-stump.

Nick Browne and Varun Chopra looked in good nick, each scoring 44 off 24 and 36 balls respectively. Both victims of Luke Hollman, who finished with figures of 3/20.

Will Buttleman followed up his century a day previous, contributing 37 towards the target. Khushi knocked off the decisive single from the first ball of the penultimate over.

Essex 2nd XI return to Second XI T20, South Group action on Thursday, June 10 when they take on Kent at Polo Farm (2pm).
