Essex’s second string comfortably saw off their Lancashire counterparts at Billericay Cricket Club, with Tom Westley and Noah Thain producing notable batting performances.

Westley scored 159 off 204 during a 248-minute first innings knock. Meanwhile, Thain – recently called up to the England under 19s set-up – hit 92 during the second innings, helping Essex to a 250-run Second XI Championship success.

Jamal Richards impressed with the ball, finishing with match figures of five for 97.

Savin Perera was unbeaten on 150 at the conclusion of Lancashire’s second innings. However, the result was rarely in doubt as Essex recorded their third victory in five matches.
