Charlie Allison offered further evidence of his ever-grown talent with an impressive century during Essex’s opening Second XI Championship fixture of the campaign against their Kent counterparts at Beckenham.

Allison hit 140 from 193 balls during the visitor’s first innings. Meanwhile, Nick Browne hit half-centuries in each innings. Meanwhile, there was a fifty for Aaron Beard. 

However, it was Kent’s second string that recorded a comfortable nine-wicket victory, inspired by second-inning centuries from Ekansh Singh and Jaydn Denley, coupled with a fifty from Ross Richardson.
