Everyone Active takes on management of Brentwood Centre

Brentwood Borough Council has appointed Everyone Active to manage The Brentwood Centre from Friday October 1.

Everyone Active has over 30 years’ experience managing more than 200 leisure facilities in partnership with 61 different local authorities nationwide.

Chair of the Community and Health Committee, Cllr Cliff Poppy said: “I am delighted that Everyone Active will be taking over the smooth running of the Brentwood Centre.

“The company has an excellent reputation and considerable expertise around the country for creating exciting and enticing leisure centres.

“The Brentwood Centre is vital to the wellbeing and health of the borough and I would like to thank all the residents and members for their continued support. It has been a considerable period of transition with Brentwood Borough Council taking the reigns in 2020 and all the staff involved in that handover worked incredibly hard facing the challenges of lockdown restrictions on top of everything else to get the Brentwood Centre reopen and looking better than ever.

“The new gym is amazing and the membership has increased dramatically since the council took over which proves that the centre is as relevant today as it has always been. Now we look forward to seeing it develop further under Everyone Active’s direction and anyone who has yet to visit a class or the pool or the café I encourage you to do so.”

Duncan Cogger, regional contract manager at Everyone Active said: “After supporting Brentwood Borough Council over the past few months with improvements at The Brentwood Centre, we’re delighted to be welcomed into the district’s community and officially begin our partnership with the council.”

The Brentwood Leisure Trust ceased trading in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. Brentwood Borough Council immediately took over The Brentwood Centre and reopened the facility as soon as possible in line with the Government regulations at that time.

To date, the council has invested £110,000 in the refurbishment of the Brentwood Centre gym with a new and refreshed look including new equipment. On top of the Brentwood Business Showcase being held at the centre on October 20, so far this year, the Brentwood Centre has hosted the election count, antiques fairs, Family Fun Day alongside regular fitness classes, a new café facility and it has been the focal point for COVID-19 vaccinations in Brentwood.
