Fifth arrest after two men are found seriously injured in Southend

A fifth person has now been arrested in connection with an incident in Southend where two men were found seriously injured.

A 26 year-old man attended Southend Police Station last night, Sunday August 23, and was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He is currently in custody.

It follows an incident on Thursday August 20 where one man was found seriously injured near to the Odeon cinema near London Road and another was found injured in College Way.

Both men remain in hospital. One has sustained life-changing injuries and the other is in a critical condition.

Another man, a 28 year-old arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, also remains in custody.

Three other people – two men aged 22 and 28, and a 24 year-old woman – have all been released on bail until September 15.
