Fifth arrest following stabbing in Southend

Officers investigating a serious assault in Southend have made a fifth arrest.

A 19 year-old woman was found with multiple, potentially life-changing injuries, at St Marys Court, Victoria Avenue shortly before 4am on Monday April 29.

Three men and a woman were arrested a short time later on suspicion of GBH with intent. They have all since been released on bail.

On Thursday a 16 year-old boy from Southend was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has been released on bail until July 18.
