Old Southendian Ladies Hockey Club first XI made it five victories from as many games to leave them three points clear at the top of the table.
This time, Upminster’s 3rd XI were on the receiving end. The Old Girls recovering a first-half deficit to eventually win by four goals to three.
A strong pep-talk at the break appeared to do the trick, with Sami Da Costa netting twice, while Anna Cooper and Sarah Carter were also on tard=get as the Old Girls established a seemingly unassailable lead. Upminster gave them something to think about, reducing the arrears to a single goal, but the Seasiders held firm to secure the win. Captain, Emily Robinson, said: “It was a thrilling second half, leaving us delighted. The girls’ attitude was everything. these are the games we need to win and learn from.”
