FORMER AUSTRALIAN INTERNATIONAL skipper, Mark Milligan, heads a list of five players heading out of Southend United following the conclusion of their contracts with the Roots Hall Stadium club.
Milligan – capped 80 times by his country – made 21 appearances for the Blues after arriving from Scottish Premiership club, Hibernian, in July 2019.
Also heading out are Luke Hyam, Sam Mantom, Henry Burnett and Theo Robinson. Robinson spent the second half of last season on loan at Colchester United, netting twelve times as the U’s secured a Sky Bet League Two play-off berth.
Contract extensions have been activated, keeping Timothee Dieng and Elvis Bwomono at Roots Hall, although the club is in negotiation with Joe Shaughnessy – the player having triggered another year, but approached as to whether he’d agree on a release from the club.
Popular defender, John White, as well as Stephen McLaughlin and Sam Barratt will meet with the Blues hierarchy over new deals in the near future. Meanwhile, promising left-sided defender, Tom Clifford, has signed a one-year deal.
