OLD SOUTHENDIAN LADIES HOCKEY first-team head into the half-term break off the back of a resounding 4-0 success over County Wanderers.
Anna Cooper bagged a brace, while Sarah Herriot and Emily Robinson were also on the mark in what was a routine victory for the Seasiders.
Speaking after the game, goalscorer Robinson enthused: “ We could probably count on our fingers the number of times County Wanderers entered our D.
“We struggled through the first half, but picked up the pace after the break and the goals came.
“It was positive to go into the half-term break with a win. It takes us back up to fifth in the league.”
The Old Girls second string produced a decent display to see off Crostyx fourths by three goals to one.
It was a tenacious performance, with Chloe Foster and Shireen Ayub profiting from short-corners. Ayub added her second and the Old Girls third. Captain, Ros Jackson, explained: “I’m delighted to report another solid performance from the Old Girls. We remain unbeaten since Christmas as a result of hard work and commitment.”
Elsewhere, the Old Southendian Ladies thirds went down by a goal to nil at Redbridge, this despite providing a battling performance.
