Free activities in Basildon this weekend

This Saturday, the Find Your Active Basildon Festival will be taking place where residents can get involved in a range of activities, all for free.

The event is being held at Basildon Sporting Village between 10am – 2pm, taking place across the athletics stadium and indoors in the sports hall, with entry being free from the trackside entrance.

A number of ‘give it a go’ sessions will be taking place including Bollywood dance, inflatable basketball, and parkour, plus there will be interactive stands from borough partners such as Cycling UK and The Craig Tyler Trust to showcase all that’s on offer in our borough.

The event will start with a mass Parkplay in the athletics stadium which will launch Parkplay in Gloucester Park – bringing free, family friendly games and activities to a seventh park in the borough.

Cabinet member for Health, Wellbeing, Leisure, Arts & Culture, Councillor Jeff Henry, said: “This is a really exciting event for residents to have lots of fun and try sports they may not have before.

“There will be a wide range of sports on offer with something for everyone – so please do come along by yourself or with friends and family – it’s not one to miss out on!”

The event is being delivered by Basildon Council, with support from partner organisations working in the borough and across Essex.
