Town centre shoppers will be able to benefit from free use of Basildon Council car parks over the festive season.
The council will once again offer free parking throughout the Christmas period to allow residents and visitors to pick up last minute gifts and enjoy the winter sales.
Free parking will be available at council-owned car parks across the borough between today, Monday December 16 and Sunday December 29.
Car parks included are:
• Billericay High St
• Wickford Main
• Radford Crescent
• Lake Meadows
• Wickford Ladygate
• Wickford Pool
Chairman of Basildon Council’s Neighbourhoods and Public Spaces Committee Councillor David Harrison said: “This is a really helpful initiative during this time of year, where everyone is spending money on friends and family, which means it could also be quite stressful when it comes to finances.
“Our local businesses will benefit from this as people will spend more time in town without feeling the pressure to leave at a certain time because parking is too expensive.
“I really hope that families will take advantage of this as it is the season for giving.”
