Freddie Sears has rejoined Sky Bet League Two outfit Colchester United following a six-year stint with local rivals, Ipswich Town.
Sears joined the U’s on a permanent deal back in 2012, this after an impressive loan spell in North Essex. He would go in to find the net 36 times in 109 appearances, grabbing the attention of Ipswich in the process.
He moved to Portman Road in 2015, going on to score 34 goals in 217 matches. On returning to Colchester on a two-year deal, the 31-year-old enthused: “It means more coming back, just raring to get going. Coming back to the stadium, going back to the training ground, and seeing everyone again makes it feel special and I’m raring to get going again.
“I can’t wait to get back in with the boys and looking to the new season ahead.”
