SKY BET LEAGUE ONE outfit, Southend United, have announced that they will be donating tickets to NHS key workers, currently on the front line battling the Covid-19 epidemic.
The Blues were quick to respond after a similar act from Premier League Brighton & Hove Albion. Many clubs across the UK are expected to follow suit, rewarding the Hospital, Ambulance, Carers and new NHS staff and volunteers with complimentary tickets for future matches.
Southend Chairman, Ron Martin, told Yellow Sport: “The entire country recognizes the tireless work of the NHS staff. They place themselves at risk for the benefit of others – how can we ever repay that professional dedication?
The club will contribute in any way possible, not only now but also post the Covid-19 crisis that grips us all. The Doctors, Nurses and team of support staff are remarkable people who unite and make the Country proud; thank you”
Meanwhile, speaking to www.southendunited .co.uk, Blues’ Ticket Office Manager, Gavin Preston, explained: “In these unprecedented times, we are honoured to be able to do our bit in recognising those who are doing all they can to help others.
“We look forward to welcoming these heroes to matches in the future and saying thank you”.
