A TEENAGE girl has suffered ‘life-changing injuries’ in a road collision in Shoeburyness, said Essex Police.

The force has appealed for witnesses after the 16-year-old was hospitalised with leg and head injuries.

She remains in hospital in a ‘serious but stable condition’.

The girl was injured as she crossed Poynters Lane, near its junction with Ravendale Way, shortly before 5.20pm on Thursday, December 5.

Police arrested a 56-year-old woman from Great Wakering, who was driving a silver Ford S-Max, on suspicion of drink-driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The woman has been ‘released under investigation’ and police are seeking further information.

Officers urge anybody who witnessed the incident, or who might have dash cam footage of the accident, to dial 101 and quote incident 852 of December 5.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
