ESSEX Police is trying to trace a good Samaritan who came to the aid of a woman near the Halfway House in West Horndon.
The force said the man, who stopped to help a woman in distress last Thursday, October 17, may be an important witness.
The woman, 33, reported to police that she had been the victim of an assault.
She said she had been a passenger in her attacker’s car – a white Ford Fiesta – but he had let her out and left her beside the A127 at around midnight, close to the Halfway House.
The woman said she then flagged down a passing blue BMW and asked the driver for help. He drove her to an address in Harold Wood.
A police spokesman said: “We are keen to speak to this driver as they may have information that could help with our enquiries.
If this was you, or someone you know, please contact the Basildon domestic abuse investigation team on 01268 244095, quoting incident 1460 of Wednesday, October 16.”
