Goods seized after warrant executed in Chelmer Village

Police have recovered a substantial amount of suspected stolen goods after executing a warrant at a property in Chelmsford.

Following reports of suspicious activity in the area, officers from Chelmsford Community Policing Team (CPT) entered a flat and adjacent caravan in Chelmer Village at 7am this morning, Friday January 5, under Section 8 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

A replica firearm, power tools, an e-bike, DJ equipment and mobile phones were seized.

A dog being kept at the flat was rescued after officers contacted the RSPCA with concerns about its welfare.

PC Adam Burns of Chelmsford CPT led the operation. He said: “We received information that both the house and caravan were being used by people at all times of the day and night. This is a quiet area, and the activity was a cause of concern for local residents.

“We conducted thorough searches of the flat and caravan and discovered a number of items of interest to us.

“I would appeal to the public to continue reporting anything taking place in their local area that looks suspicious. If you believe you have seen drug dealing or other criminal activity, tell us. We will investigate and take decisive action.”
