Grays man charged with murder

A man has been charged with murder following the death of a man in Grays last month.

Police were called to an incident at an address close to New Road, Grays, shortly after 3.40am on Friday October 6.

Officers found a disturbance had taken place and a man had sustained a serious injury.

Ashton Rowbotham, 19, died at the scene.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on October 6 and was subsequently released on bail.

Connor Knight, of New Road, Grays, has now been charged with murder.

He is due to appear in Southend Magistrates’ Court on Thursday November 23.
