Gross misconduct judgement against former Met officer after positive drug test

Allegations of gross misconduct have been found proven against a former Metropolitan Police sergeant.

A misconduct hearing on Wednesday, October 14 heard that former Sgt Richard Skinner, previously of Central East BCU, had breached the standards of professional behaviour in relation to fitness for work and discreditable conduct.

On August 6, 2019, PS Skinner provided a sample for a with cause drug test. This sample screened positive for cocaine.

Chairwoman, Assistant Commissioner Helen Ball, considered all of the evidence and found former PS Skinner to have breached the standards of professional behaviour at the level of gross misconduct and, had he still been a serving officer, he would have been dismissed without notice.
