Hadleigh & Thundersley made comfortable Dukes Essex League Cup second round progress with Adam Forbes, Darius Vapiwala and Oliver Smith amongst the runs on a batsman-friendly wicket at John Burrows Park.

Forbes hit 84 off 96 balls, while wicketkeeper/batsman Vapiwala scored 80 and Smith 65 as the home side amassed 305/7 from their 45 overs – Paul Bennett and Harry Morgan James taking three wickets apiece for Horndon.

Ryan Plom carried the fight with 82, while Muhammad Asif (44) and Haroon Ashfaq (42) looked in good nick. However, the target was always a tall order. Horndon batted out but finished 65 runs short – Richard Revell and Haider Ali Syed Zaidi each taking two wickets for the winners.
