Hadleigh & Thundersley picked up maximum points from this remarkably low-scoring contest. Adam Dobson’s 20 and a further 18 from Adam Forbes making up the bulk of their 65 – Ian Belchamber with 5/19 and Jack Hebron (4/15) doing the damage with the ball for Brentwood.
However, there was to be a twist. Richard Revell took 5/19 and Sam Handley 4/1 to swing the contest back the way of the home side. Tom Oakley top-scored for a shell shocked Brentwood with 21 – no other visiting batsman reached double figures.
The result leaves Hadleigh & Thundersley in second place, a point behind Chelmsford. Meanwhile, Bentwood occupies eighth place following a troubled start to the campaign.
