Carlisle started brightly and took the lead after 17 minutes thanks to Offrande Zanzala’s low drive efrom distance.

Blues had a chance to level the score. Simeon Akinola was tripped by Callum Guy. Unfortnately, teh former Barnet man struck his penalty poorly – Carlisle stopper, Paul Farman saving easily.

It’s a ‘must-win’ game for Southend – It’s all going wrong at the moment.
