A lacklustre opening 45 minutes from the home side who trail thanks to Mohamed Elyounoussi’s eighth-minute opener for Southampton.
Elyounoussi drove, left-footed, low beyond Lukasz Fabianski. The Hammers response has been somewhat meek. A Nikola Vlašić effort, turned aside by Fraser Forster, highlight for the hosts on a dismal afternoon.
