Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 West Ham United
All the goals came within a frantic five minutes following a slow start.
Just before the half-hour mark, Spurs made the breakthrough. Steven Bergwijn supplied the close-range finish after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg had cut the ball back from the right.
The visitors’ response was almost immediate. Hugo Lloris twice brilliantly denied Tomas Soucek. However, he was powerless when Jarrod Bowen fired home from close range. Soucek, Vlašić, and Rice were involved – the 6,000 travelling Hammers fans sent wild with delight.
Again, the pendulum swiftly swung. This time Lucas Moura arrived just ahead of Ben Johnson to meet Bergwijn’s low cross – Spurs back in front – the contest, all of a sudden, frenetic.
