Harpenden 36-13 Southend Saxons
HARRY BRANCH offered an honest assessment after Southend Saxons slipped to their seventh London One North defeat of the campaign on Harpenden’s all-weather surface at Redbourn Lane.
Tom Day and Mitch Bennett both went over for the Saxons but they came up short against a well-drilled home side.
“Credit to Harpenden, they played their pitch very well,” Branch told Yellow Sport.
“We didn’t get enough points on the board in the first half with the wind.”
“I think as a squad we put together some fantastic attacking play in parts of the game and scored good tries.
The Saxons form has suffered of late, seeing them slip from the cusp of the promotion race to midtable. Nevertheless, Branch insisted the squad remained solid and focused as they look to get back on track.
“We have a big week ahead on the training ground. We have to get the defeat out of our system and ensure we are back on it quickly.
“This is a good group, we will come back strongly.”
