Havering Cricket in the Community’s girls section has followed the lead of their male counterparts and booked a place at the London Youth Games finals day following a competitive qualifying round at Harrow Leisure Centre.

The girls reached the Lord’s final despite making a slow start which saw them lose their opening two fixtures.

However, managed and coached superbly by Pete Reynolds of Rainham CC and assisted by Angela Green of Upminster CC, they recovered sufficiently to set up a nail-biting finale in which they overcame a strong Islington side to keep their hopes of qualification alive.

Havering had to wait patiently for the round of matches to be concluded before it was confirmed that they had progressed to the showpiece event to be staged at Lord’s on Saturday, March 26.

The Havering squad that reached the London Youth Games finals day at Lord’s was as follows: Imogen Stretton, Chloe Stretton, Emily Woodgate, Imogen Croker, Daisy Middlemiss, Sophie Burley, Maisie Coles, Evie Green
