Scott Doody led the way with 64, while there were half-centuries from William Amas and Jack Stead – Charles Allen contributing a further 47 as the visitors’ posted a sizable 267/8 – Ahmed Khawaja (3/45) and Ahsan Yousaf (3/68) amongst the wickets for the Old Boys.

The chase never gathered sufficient momentum. Ben Waine took 4/33 and Sherwin Stanley 3/24 as the Fives attack applied the pressure – Max Craddock (29) and Sandeep Muraleedharan (27) the only Old Boys batsmen taking any credit on what proved to be a miserable afternoon for the Southend-based club.
