Hutton 2-1 Old Southendian
Goals from Aron Gordon and Tony Shaw proved sufficient as hosts, Hutton inflicted a 2-1 ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division defeat on Old Southendian at Polo Field.
The hosts pulled two goals clear before Nick Henesy’s crisp volley from a Ryan Stillwell pass reduced the arrears.
“All in all, I think a draw would have been a fair result but the most important thing was that everyone got minutes, we had no injuries and football is back,” Old Boys boss, Dave Tubbs told Yellow Sport.
“With nothing at stake, we are treating the next eight games as an extended pre-season, especially with the players a little rusty. We travelled with a big squad, made five changes at half-time and another five midway through the second half
“Despite falling two goals behind, we created some decent chances and finally took one when Ryan play in Nick. The boys were excited to be back. With 19 available we had to make tough choices to pick the 16 that travelled.”
Old Southendian return to ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Premier Division action on Saturday, April 10 when they face Canning Town at the West Ham Community Ground (2:30pm).
