AS Rawreth 0-2 Old Southendian Reserves

OLD SOUTHENDIAN RESERVES stepped up their quest for ProKit UK Essex Olympian League Division Two promotion with a reasonably comfortable victory over bottom of the table AS Rawreth at London Road.

Andy Turner arrived to supply the simplest finish midway through the opening period to hand Old Southendian the lead. And the points were all but secured ten minutes before the interval when Ben Franklin doubled their advantage.

AS Rawreth offered a little more resilience during the second half, but the damage had been done, much to the delight of boss, David Manley.

“It was a pleasing performance today after a long time not playing a competitive game,” he enthused.

“We did our best, and played some nice football in windy conditions on a bobbly pitch – overall we dominated.

“Our three in the middle were really tidy, while the back three were solid – especially Tom Adams, who helped us record our third clean sheet in four games

“Confidence is high in the camp. We need to keep the momentum into next week”

The Old Southendian second string currently occupies third place. They will be looking to put further pressure on the top two when Harold Wood Athletic are the visitors to Garon Park on Saturday, January 18 (2pm)
